Exhuast idea

Well IF my cats are bad, this is what i am thinking about doing, need ya'lls thoughts..

Magnaflow performance Cats
Straight pipe to gibson muffler
straight pipes to gibson tips straight out the back.

Basically get rid of all the bends/curves of the original gibson pipes, and go with pipes straight out the back..

What do you think?

My goal is to get a little louder and maybe a little deeper..

2" off the headers or exhaust manifolds to some cats. one per bank, then take it to the muffler in 2.25 or 2.5 then come out of the muffler in 2.25 or 2.5

I agree with Mr Beard. I'd probably go with 2.5" from the cats back

Not to my knowledge. It's just too big for the 4.0. I think some high buck exhaust for V8's run 3" and I know Diesels run even bigger (if I'm not having a total brain fart).

At least you aren't going to go straight pipe. That would sound horrible.

Yeah but your truck sounds like crap. Only a V8 or a diesel should be straight piped.

Does Magnaflow make direct replacement cats with pipes for your truck? I know they make a new Y pipe with cat for my year.

That is what it looks like. Bolt in and go. Just make sure they are legal in your state.

Yeah your right. MBRP makes a 3" kit for the 5.4 V8. Normally the diesel is 4" or 5"

I'm sure its their high flow cats. Email them to be sure. If they are then the sound may be louder but I don't think you will gain any power.

If your stockers are clogged up you'll gain some power back but I wouldn't keep my hopes up for a lot of extra power. If clogged cats are your problem though you'll notice a difference with them. But Magnaflow or OEM would be about the same

yeah.. I wish there was a sure fire way to check my cats myself.. Without having to take it to the shop lol.. Im mainly looking to gain back all the power/sound i have lost since my truck started running like poo.

could clogged cats cause my symptoms?

Makes sense, Runs Ritch as hell( computer would be trying to compinsate maybe?), and its quiter than it used to be. and there is like NO power
