Fast, continuous clicking when turning
I’ve got a really fast, continuous clicking sound when I turn. (Clicks fast about 5-6 times.) Only when I turn. It isn’t suspension/wheel/joint related. When I drive with the windows down it sounds like its coming from the mid/bottom of engine. Anyone ever had or knows about this issue?? 2001 4.0 V6 SOHC. 192k. Thanks in advance.

Possibly. But no it does not. Only when the truck is moving. I used to have a shifter and PRNDL shift indicator issue but got those squared away. I suspect maybe steering or column issue but can’t pin point it. And it’s not a clunking type sound like a bad joint would make. Almost sounds like a old school camera shutter sound when taking a pictures.

I think I wold jack up the front end. rotate the wheels, right and left. the turn the wheel and rotate it, both. can you hear anything? so is it right of left? I know if the rack and pinion is a little loose it will make a clicking, klunk sound at slow speed when you turn the wheel, but you would tell if the truck is not moving too . start I up and have some one move the steering wheel and get under it to listen for something. I dont see how the steering shaft to the rack and pinion could do that. I think you'll need 2 people, one to move the steering wheel the other to listen for noise. Good Luck
