Thats a GREAT deal Freddie... But yeah D.'s truck sounds amazing... But im fairly sure the reason why (correct me if im wrong) is, his is modified, slightly lol. But if a stock 4.0 with just a muffler can sound like that, then Justin ill send you a PM for a quote on some things, if thats OK with you man. Got a website i could check out?

Performancepeddler.com is the website, but Justin can get prices cheaper than that. Pick out some part numbers and PM him so he can get you a quote.

I'm fairly confident my truck will sound very familiar, especially with an intake to increase the "throatiness".

Let me check my PM's again... I THINK I bought the same one as him, #12258, but i'll confirm that.

EDIT: In my PM"s, D. said #14588.

Here's his old post in the 4.0 Tech though

I bought a Flowmaster 40series and developed some engine troubles running the bottle. Had the engine re-done at a local dyno shop and did a few runs. The Owner of the shops son bought an 03 ranger with the sohc and a 5speed manual and ran the dyno after doing nothing outside of pulling the air silencer, a K&N drop in filter and a magnaflo muffler. He beat what I had by 10hp and 30lb/ft ( no bottle, just motor. He had like 204hp on the rollers. ). I had a MAC intake and Hedders.. His exhaust allowed the engine to breathe that much better and the scavenging effects helped as well.

So.. I went and bought the same muffler he had.

Either of these will work..

I use model#14278 with the 2.25 inch pipes reduced to dual 2inch pipes. It gained 10lb/ft at the wheels for me.

Everyone speaks of how their little v6 sounds like a v8 with a 40 seried muffler.. BullChit! Put them side by side and the difference is Night and Day. I deal with a lot of v8's on a daily basis. No v6 will sound like a compression having, throaty v8 endless the truck has a serious sound system and a mp3 playing with a recorded exhaust clip from s REAL v8.
However, when I talked to Justin, he advised me to go with the 12258, because it has a smaller inlet, which will reduce the cost when I have my new exhaust installed. I didn't want to install it yet though, because I plan on doing a few more suspension mods, and switching to a styleside bed, and I don't want to pay to have the exhaust welded up, then decide to do those suspension/exterior mods and have to have the exhaust redone.

put a blower on it if you want to change the sound some

any of you putting an exhaust on drop the last Cat, its after all the o2s and all it will do is make it more throaty.

I do not recommend removing all of them. It sounds pretty funky.

here is mine before the blower. I know I have a vid with no exhaust, just headers.

Zach, that hardly sounds like a 4.0 LOL, awesome. And thank you Freddie. 1 thing i forgot to ask.. But since magnaflow has 2 sizes the 5x11 and 5x8, which one would be a better choice??

You obviously have no idea how an engine works then. That's why on v type engines you can add power by adding an X pipe or H pipe. The exhaust pulses from a cylinder will pull the exhaust gasses from the other cylinders when their exhaust vales are open. That effect is called exhaust scavenging. That's why backpressure on a na non race motor is so important. A turbo engine's turbo causes enough back pressure that you don't need anything after the turbo. Also the momentum that the turbine blades have will suck out the exhaust gasses from the cylinders.

not too worried about it. I don't want a handheld tuner. I LOVED HP tuners when I had my silverado but nothing like that for this truck. I will need a tuner when I get the 5.oh in this truck.

Nice how you didn't read anything else. Maybe you just didn't understand it. I also don't really care about your car or what it ran. I'm sorry but it's not the best car in the world.

I like your tires in this pic.... what tires are those?

The paint looks really nice too, normally I wouldn't go for that color but for some reason it just looks really nice!
