front drive shaft seal in BW 1354 T/F Case

2004 Ranger 4.0 Auto 4x4 Edge 45000 miles. Tried searching fourms no luck. Seal in front drive shaft to transfer case leaking. Can the seal be changed while case is still in truck? thanks

It can be done but it is not easy. As I recall some bolts would be difficult to get to. I think putting the two halves together in that vertical position would make it difficult to get everything lined up. Maybe some extra hands would help. I can say; my brother who is a professional mechanic, says he takes transfer cases apart often in the vehicle for rebuild. I think the only thing you can't do that way is replace the input shaft seal.
