Fuel filter (Original or replacement?)

I'm wanting to change my fuel filter, and I have the tool, last time I tried to change it, I could only get one of the lines off.

I shut the fuel pump off, while the truck was running to drain the lines, but I still had quite a bit of gasoline spill when I disconnected.

Am I doing something wrong, that causes one of the lines to lock or vacuum seal?

ROFLOL,

I just 'discovered' the schrader valve, the last instructions on how to do it didn't mention it.

And so I was searching for it, and went, hey, this looks like it could be, SQUIRT!, lol!

Also note :
PB Blaster does not stand for Personal Bodyodor Blaster .
It is greasy like some deodorants , but doesn't do the same job .Even though it smells nice , it's not recommended after a gas bath.

Tons of gas is normal. If you want, you can crank the engine over while disabling the fuel pump by either removing the fuel pump relay or on most fords, if you put the gas pedal to the floor (WOT), and crank the engine, the PCM automatically disables the fuel pump. You could try that, just be ready to let go of the pedal incase 98's weren't like that.

Being a mechanic, we never get the pressure out of the system...break a line loose and move out of the way is the quickest way to do it.

Well...

I had to shave down the tool I purchased today, I lost the other tool.

Then as I was switching from one line that I was having difficulty with, never got a full click and it would not pull off, I started on the other side, and no sooner did I get that side to click, the other side shot off, (PRESSURE WAS RELEASED at valve), and started squirting gasoline right into my face. ( I wasn't prepared for gasoline from that direction.)

So, my bum left ankle, and bum right knee carried me as fast as they could to the hose about 10 yards away. Luckily, I've had gas in my eyes before, and had worse.

Remember how I had an O2 sensor going off now and again, primarily on empty or low tanks?

I think I figured it out.

The brown on the bleach white towel is nothing but gasoline from the fuel filter, after it's been through the filter.

Rusty gasoline going straight into my engine.

Hose PRIOR to cleaning.

I cleaned up the hose, it had a little staining, but the rust was gone. Tested it out and connected everything back up.

Two minutes after starting the engine back up, (I did not disco the battery terminal, yell at me all you want, the fuel pump was discoed, etc.) The check engine light turned off, and I ran it around rough, and hit as many bumps as possible, and then idled it for 20mins as I cleaned up, and still no CEL. We will see, but maybe, just maybe, that weird O2 sensor reading was from the contaminated gasoline.

After 30miles the CEL came back on.

I'll check to see what it is soon, and will update.
