Fuel pump question

I am having problems with my 05 ranger starting. I had someone check it out. They hooked a gauge up and told me I'm losing significant pressure when the truck is shut off. He said there is some kind of seal in the pump that prevents gas from coming back to tank. He seems to think my seal has gone bad. I was wondering if any one else has had or heard of this problem. Thanks for any help.

Yes, mine does that as well....i have to keep cranking it and it takes a few tries to finally start up. Its been happening for a couple years now for me, i just refuse to pay someone to fix it when it runs good. If you end up finding a solution post up what it is, i would love to finally tackle this problem

No need for a new thread, took me a while to notice. Turn key to on...leave there for 3 seconds, switch off, then on right away and start. Does it start fine then? What were the pressures...does it hold within 5PSi of the maximum you see for 1 minute.

I would recommend cycling the key from off to run a few times as well, see if it starts right away then

Clogged fuel filter will cause hard starting.
