fuel pressure regulator or fuel pump

fuel pressure regulator or fuel pump

had the fuel filter changed still has no power one tech said its the reulator or the fuel pump the truck has started making a ticking sound was told to go to you tube a watch the video of replaceing the regulator the ticking sounds like the one in the video if its the regulator dose anyone know how to change it and where its located on a 01 ranger no lights no codes

The 98+ fuel pressure regulator is inside the fuel tank and is sold as part of the intank pump/regulator/sender assembly. Get some fuel pressure numbers before deciding to rip into it. Your problem MIGHT be caused by something else that's easier to get at and POSSIBLY less expensive. FP spec for your 2001 is 64 PSI +/- 8PSI.

If the ticking is under the hood like the Escape video on YouTube, it has nothing to do with the pressure regulator in the tank.
