02oregonedge+ 08-15-2008 05:27 PM

Tearloch 08-15-2008 05:34 PM

Roach2004 08-15-2008 05:49 PM

Roach2004 08-15-2008 05:50 PM

I have taken mine to 105 and quit.

DSFD506 08-15-2008 06:20 PM

mine stops at 96 or 97

ScottG 08-15-2008 06:45 PM

there hasnt been a governor on a ranger since the early 90s

everything is now in the computers. its a speed limiter in the programing

Machine090767 08-15-2008 09:44 PM

ok, Scott.. my speed limiter kicks in around 92-95

02oregonedge+ 08-15-2008 09:48 PM

Speed limiter, govenor ,it's pretty much the same thing.

You didn't stock? I have one at 92 and we have the same truck.

DisturbedESV 08-15-2008 09:57 PM

Old truck was 92 or 97... don't remember... haven't gotten the new truck over 92 but I stopped 'cause of traffic, not a limiter....

there's is def. a difference between a limiter and a governor... when you hit a governor it forces you to slow down ('02 Focus @ 107, '04 Sequoia @ 117) but the limiter is just a brick wall and you can maintain it but you can't get over it

whippersnapper02 08-15-2008 09:59 PM

I usually say hard or soft governor for speed and hard or soft limiter for revs.

02oregonedge+ 08-15-2008 10:07 PM

So on a govenor if it's set at 92 and you hit 92 it'll automatically slow you down or will it even let you get their? Then on a limiter like my truck it keeps the speed, but then stays at that set speed?

DisturbedESV 08-15-2008 10:08 PM

My experience with governors is as soon as you hit it it cuts the accellerator and you have to slow down. With the limiter I can maintain a speed but I can't get over that.

Dustin S 08-15-2008 10:12 PM

I don't have a limiter, I've had mine up to 118 mph, BTW it was NOT on a public road.

02oregonedge+ 08-15-2008 10:19 PM

So in a nutshell, to some extent their the same in that they both hinder you from passing a set speed. 118 was that with a gps or your speedo?

Radar. Speedo was reading 105.

t3ob 08-15-2008 10:25 PM

Mine kicks in at 96 or 97... I've gotten up to 100 once but I was going down hill, thats the only reason why.

02oregonedge+ 08-15-2008 10:36 PM

did you get a ticket? And at that speed how much was it?

Like I said it wasn't a public road, it would have went faster but it got kinda shaky around 110:scared1:, so I pussed out and stopped accelerating at 118.:biglaugh:

02oregonedge+ 08-15-2008 10:44 PM

How long did it take you to get to 118?
