So I have some chirstmas money that i was going to use on a trip to panama but since I couldn't go i might buy a new exhaust. I'm looking at two different Gibson exhaust systems- one is the dual extreme and the other in dual swept side which is stainless. Im looking so a little more aggressive sound over the stock. The stainless is $430 and the other is $322. So my big concern is it worth the extra hundred for a stainless and will iit have a noticeable difference? Any input would be great thanks.

No, the stainless is for looks.

I just ordered a Flowmaster 40 muffler then took it to a exhaust shop and let them custom make my exhaust, that would be a lot cheaper than buying a pre-made kit.

 

mind me asking how much it cost to make the custom exhasut

 

my local exhaust shop charged me $110 to weld up a muffler..

 

Around $100-$120 is about right

I run a Magna-flow single stainless steel set-up, cost me around $400 US off e-bay. IMO stainless is the way to go.

 

the salt in the winter is why i was thinking stainless. but if i can get a better sound with the split rear exit tailpipes i might go with them. Is there any gain in performance or mileage that you guys noticed? just curious

 

Performance and MPG will not be affected, just the sound

I've been running my exhaust for 7 years with salty winters and haven't had an issue, stainless just looks pretty, and unless your truck is a show truck with a pretty undercarriage, it's pointless

Yeah, aluminized piping is the way to go. Had that on my truck for several years now and it still looks like it did when the exhaust shop put it on.
