HELP! Need 98-03 3.0/4.0 Magnaflow D/O system owners to chime in..

Hey.

I'm looking for owners of Magnaflow's dual out system on 98=03 trucks. I found the tailpipes from those kits for sale at Summit for $50 each...looking to put tailpipes back on my truck(tired of being dumped). Looking to use those tailpipes and bolt 'em up to my existing 'head pipe' and Flowmaster Super 44.

So, for you 3.0/4.0L 98-03 magnaflow dual out system(the kit) owners:

Are the Dual-out magaflow kits muffler exits VERTICAL or HORIZONTAL?? Muffler vertical or horizontal?

What's the measurement from the Y pipe flange to the front/inlet 'wall' of the muffler?

Getting those answered will help be gauge to see if they'll fit my application. Pictures of your system is greatly appreciated and very welcome. And please...I dont need to see just your exhaust tips. lol.

Thank you very much in advance.

Shane

Got some links?

I have the slp exhaust, which is a magnaflow muffler with different tips.

My muffler is vertical just like the stocker was.

Here's the kit in question(i think): MagnaFlow 15773 - MagnaFlow Performance Exhaust Kits – SummitRacing.com

Here's the driveside pipe: MagnaFlow 15040 - MagnaFlow Stainless Steel Exhaust Tailpipes – SummitRacing.com
Here's the passside pipe: MagnaFlow 15039 - MagnaFlow Stainless Steel Exhaust Tailpipes – SummitRacing.com

Your vertical comment does answer one of my concerns. Post pics please!?!! You've got the Thunderbolt exhaust eh? That would be magnaflow dualout system(That I should've bought many moons ago when they were like $150 on ebay!)

Tip location is of no concern to me as I can't go out in the stock location(BL + shackles) and I can't go out from aside the hitch below the bumper(hitch + shackles). I'll be dumping before the hitch. All hidden like.

The whole thing is...I've gotten a quote to redo my cat to the muffler for a whopping $80! It's a straight chunk of 2.5" for a length of approx 3ft and welding on a 2.5" 3bolt flange. Getting the exhaust the way I want it would run me of about $300 for just pipe bending, hanging, and welding. I'm trying to do this on a budget. Thought this idea of getting already bent tailpipes would be beneficial for my goal.

When I said tips i meant mine are shorty fat round things. Not the cool lx mustang style ones.

The mid pipe is kinda bendy but not super bad. Any specific angle you need?

If you can manage, one of underneeth the tips, looking forward showing tailpipes and the muffler in the distance.. And one from the side of the truck showing the position forward and back of where the muffler sits in the system.

THANK YOU!!!

They appear to be eactly what I need...I just don't like the size of the piping. 2.5" in and dual 2.5" seem a little overkill...but w/e. Thanks for the pics.

Next step: go to the guy who hung my chevy's exhaust, make sure he's a little buzzed(that's when he does his best work), then get a quote for a new head pipe and 2" tailpipes. we'll see.

Again...thanks for the pics.

Does he do the best work when he is buzzed, or does he give the best quotes when he's more inhibited lol.

Shane I'm going to rain on your parade SOO BAD.

A few years, maybe 4-5 years ago, Hillbanks Motorsports bought out all the Ford performance parts and sold a bunch of Magnaflow exhaust systems for Rangers on Ebay. A bunch of us on the site picked up the dual exhaust system for 150$ each.

Just thought you'd like to know :) Oh yah, it sounds beautiful, magnaflow kicks ***!

And I hated the sound of Magnaflow when I had one....the tone was fine, it was wasn't gnarly enough for my tastes.

Good to see you8'll be getting it finally brought back to the rear - I need to put my own shackles on here this week and then plan on getting my exhaust rerouted to be about the same - I love the sound of being dumped.. but the in-cab resonance just isnt fun anymore - woudl rather have it be shot out the rear again liek I used to have it - but a bunch more hidden with some turndowns

Yeah. I even put my quiet glasspack style oval muffler back on a few weeks ago. SOOOOOOOOOOO quiet! lol. I'd go to your muffler shop....but I absolutely hate those crinkle bends.
