someone recommended high flow cats on my ranger and i have heard some say yes and others say you will actually lose performance in the end.. that the factory cats are perfect just the way they are.. i have also heard gut your cat and just run straight pipe out.

Run cats, don't gut them. It's a federal offense. I'd just stick with the stockers, but otherwise, go with the highflow cats if you've got money burning a hole in your pocket

 

On a stock truck it really wont help a whole lot.

If you are running full bolt on's, boost, or a built motor then yes they would help.

The stock cats aren't too restrictive.

so i installed JBA headers. took the stock flange and cut it away from the old exhaust.

then bought a bunch of 90s, 45s and straight in 2.25", 2.5", and 3" mandrel stainless steel.

I ran 2.25 from the headers to the cats.

you want to try and keep the cats the same distance of tube away from the headers.

I reused the o2s by installing stainless steel bungs and placed them accordingly.

I dont have any pictures right now of it complete but you get the idea.

 

what kind of cats are those?? and what did this project set you back and where did you get all your pipe supply sorry to ask so much but i love your setup. and what did you run post cat..

 

i ran a borla SI/SO dumped at the bumper before.

i probably spent 850-1000 on the setup.

i also bought all new bosch o2 sensors. which are 75 a piece.

then i needed stainless steel mig wire.

 

call me a n00b but do they make pipe that is 2.25 to 2.5 or what did you use to get the two cats @2.25 into the muffler that is 2.5 properly?

and if i dont have major performance upgrades down to my vehicle will i notice much difference with this setup?

 

you will notice more with the headers.

i just sleeved the exhaust right between the cat and the muffler then welded it up. now if you know some exhaust shop they will stretch it for you.

the rest of the exhaust was butt welded

 

so your saying just run 2 high flows from magna flow and that magna flow exhaust and just put the 3rd O2 in the little space between the muffler and the cat? and put the other two where they were originally right after the headers.

And you still pass emissions without a problem?

yeah that is what im saying on the o2s

emissions, its hard to tell, i should because those cats from magnaflow are better than a stock ranger as far as cleaning power. indiana doesnt have emissions checks or any BS money wasting program like that.

 

worst case senario the county above me is emission free so i can just register it at a po box there. but it doesnt sound like i would have an issue.

 

What magnaflow muffler is the most recommended for single in and dual out?
