How to identify engine yr?

Hi Guys Friend was told his motor was out of a 93 Bronco. But the sticker is gone. Do they still stamp the motor ID on the block?

You really should try searching google, I found these in seconds.

Once you find your date code you need to locate a chart to decode what you got.

Sounds like the the vehicle was scrapped and all that is left is the engine.

May have been scrapped. I picked up a 94 ranger with bad head gasket. But came with what i was told was a 93 bronco 4.0. From what i find 93 Bronco's were 8 cyl.

Found a casting "X" by the starter. Just a X Got me. Dont want to pull motor to see if any other casting numbers are on top side of block.

I have used a mirror to decipher a partial VIN on the back of a Ford block. I haven't tried it on my Ranger. I know it still has the original engine.
