idle, and start up issues...

Lately when I havent driven my truck for 8 or more hours it has trouble starting. Its 50/50...sometimes it starts right up, and sometimes it takes twice. I can hear the fuel pump engage, and I wait until I cant hear it before I crank it.

Also when I pull to a stoplight or something no matter what gear im in or what RPM, when I push in the clutch, it jumps to 1500RPMs and will idle at 1000-1500 for anywhere from a few seconds to over 15 seconds before it goes down to 700-400RPMs. It does this about 65-75% of the time. The rest of the time it is normal.

I know I need a new clutch...could this be the cause? Im thinking it is fuel related...but I have no clue and I would rather not have my friend come home from school one weekend just to fix something I could do. Thanks.

We had one of our 1992 model rangers do this, and my dad got it fixed, but I dont remember what he did. I will ask him and let you know.
