leaking oil behind Crankshaft pulley!!!!! How do you fix!!??
i just called the dealer to schedule an apointment and she said there is no TSB on this matter. some of the other guys who have low milage 4.0L should check this as well. i mean scott has 64,xxx. my mileage is 44,xxx (kms or 22,xxx miles) a part shouldn't go bad in that short of a timespan. mine looks like it's been leaking for a litttle, i dunno about yours. maybe, maybe not.
here are the TSBs that i found:
2006 FORD RANGER TSB's (technical service bulletins)
Im just going to replace that part myself. I cannot stand the guys at the local dealership. They are *******s!

i don't see playing in the sand/mud to make this part fail. we both did that recently. that is the only thing we have in common. our trucks are 2 years apart, i have 1/3 the milage you do. i think it's a design flaw and it's not known about yet.
i think you could be right.im calling the shop manager today. i used to fish with him last year in bass tournies, maybe i can get it fixed cheaply...lol
if not, i guess gonna do it myself, looks fairly easy according to Trent's nice contribution

i just aggrevated that it is doing it period!! Thats why i bought the truck so i wouldnt have to deal with this mess. I figured go buy a low mileage truck (had 26.4k miles on it when i got it) Now at 63k i had a sensor go out, then at 64, it starts leaking oil
Because those guys aren't worth crap, hence why majority of this site does they're own service and maintenance. You really think they looked at 100 different things in the '100-point inspection'? Heck no they don't and they won't unless you sit there and watch them.
You can't expect it to be problem free, **** happens. Thats life. Just think it could always be worse, you could have sucked water in and need a new engine.
LOL, dont remind me Trent! that worried the crap out of me all weekend!! any luck on the ford tech manual for removing balancer and pulley

everyone with the 4.0 should like Morris said. ive ordered my part from Rock Auto, Sara's dad has some pullers that i need for the balancer and possibly the pulley. So maybe this weekend, i can get it.
Mud and Sand getting ran up into seals, sure as hell can make them fail and I'd consider looking at that as the cause. The SOHC 4.0 has been out for years if this was a common problem more people than just you gentlemen would have it.
I don't think a TSB means they'll fix the issue for you, its more for informational purposes for the dealer.

its very possible that mud hole with sandy mud could have caused the problem, i dk. I do know that it was not leaking when i last changed oil. I did not however check to see before the beach trip ao i dont know when it started. I understand things fail, im just *****in like everyone else does when their truck gets a problem and it takes money to fix...lol. From the pdfs that Trent has provided, it looks to be a simple job, so its no big deal really. I have the parts ordered, may tackle it this weekend when Sara is at work.
Normally this type of job isn't a bad one, the biggest thing is how easy or how hard the balancer wants to fight you. My buddy spent an hour plus this weekend fighting his balancer when the puller didn't pop it right off. If you get in that situation where you tighten up the puller and she still doesn't want to come off, you can smack the end of the puller with a hammer a few times and sometimes that'll get things moving.

i understand that mud/sand can cause a problem, but c'mon, the trucks are 64k and 22k for milage. it's unacceptable for something that low. i could see if i had 100+ on the truck and it was pissin oil. this this still has a warranty and scotts' just got out of his warranty period. i still think it's a shotty design flaw somewhere. maybe 10% of all trucks for hte year have this flaw. we just happen to catch it.
i recommend you look at yours and see if it's leaking, if you can get it fixed, do so. if you ahve to do it yourself, so be it. if i was in scott's shoes, i'd take the time out and make sure it got fixed.
You are missing the meaning of a TSB. Theres a TSB out there for how to change the spark plugs on a 3 valve 5.4. Does that mean the dealer will cover it under warranty? Heck no
A TSB and a recall are not near the same. Can they be? Yes, but not every TSB is like a recall.
What do you expect to happen when you go beat on the truck at the dunes all weekend and then drive it a couple hundred miles back home? It wasn't made for that kind of abuse. Gotta pay to play!

Here's another example. This one is just for information. Your semi-correct though, a lot of TSBs are the same as recalls.

I wasn't getting on you about beating on it at the dunes, heck I do the same thing.
