Lean codes P0171 & P0174 with a Hard Start
I just had a Crate engine put in my 04 about 2 months ago. I have about 2-3000 on it.
It started out with Just one bank lean and setting code. Took it to the shop that put the engine in(I could not do it to back injury)
Any way they figured a vacuum leak so they smoke tested it. The EGR had a little smoke coming from it so they replaced it.
Well a week later it has both banks lean AND a terrible hard start when cold. When it finally does start it stumbles and misses for about 5-10 seconds then clears up. The runs 100% perfect and starts fine
suggestions!?!?!?!?

Check fuel pressure
After sitting for a few hours fuel pressure may be dropping to 0psi, it should hold above 30psi, and go to 55-60psi after startup
Try cycling key on and off 3 times BEFORE trying to start cold engine, that will build up pressure to 30psi if it was 0psi
If this helps then you are losing pressure when it sits, and if you don't smell gasoline...........then pressure is leaking inside the gas tank
2004 will have fuel pump and pressure regulator, both, inside the gas tank
Either could cause pressure loss with key off

Cycling the key HELPS but it doesnt eliminate the rough idle when it does start. I'll have to get a gauge
