Magnaflow dual outlet questions (15773)

Hey Guys, I'm ready to buy a SS dual outlet catback for my 06 FX4. I've been searching and searching here but need a little more info.

Ok, I'm trying to decide between the gibson and the magnaflow. From everyones post and sound clips I've found, I think I have the gibson understood pretty well. I like it the best.. but I think I want something a little louder at low rpms and when at heavy throttle. (like the magnaflow clips I can seem to find)

My questions about the magnaflow are these:
1) Does it drone at all when at hwy speeds with the windows *up*?
2) Has anyone bent the tail pipes to exit at a 45 degree angle? (pics would be awsome)

Thanks guys,
Rich

Highway speeds are nice. Its not too loud until you go over 2500rpm WOT.

I have the slp exhuast using the magnaflow muffler.

If you bent the tip tail pipes you may need to add a longer tip to get it to exit the body.

Hum... 2500 huh? I think I'm hitting 2500 right at about 70mph.

Thanks.

^---like that?

no drone at cruising speeds here, just a nice and quiet ride.

Thanks! Did you cut the tip? Got any other pics?

I'm kinda flip-flopin on this. I see the Gibson is not all SS but the Magnaflow is. I also saw some vids of the magnaflow singing a nice little note when at elevated rpms. That I like!

I also like the look of the Gibsons tail pipes. Seem to be tucked up nice and neat.

its just a magnaflow muffler with custom bent pipes. the tips are 45* cuts with a 3" diameter, unsure of the lenght.

by chance, did u hear the clips i posted of the exhaust on her Ranger?

more pics can be found here:

Thanks, yes I did see that one. ( http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v6...d_2nd_gear.flv )

Here is the one I like the best. Mostly because it seems to have a nice rap to it up in rpms.

And here is the magnaflow just straight out the back.

Based on what I can see.. I think I'll buy and install the magnaflow myself. If I don't like the straight rear facing tips I'll have them changed. Up here in Mich I really need the SS if I'm going to keep this truck. (which I plan on for quite some time)

Thanks again,
Rich

Here is the pic of mine, they do tuck up nice to the bumper, but they fell right where my lights were, so i angled them down some

They have a quiet, low rumble at idle, then when you hit the gas they really open up, especially at higher RPMs, but they are not crazy loud, you can cruise down the road and they dont bother you at all

Rich, you'll have to remeber that you exhaust is going to sound a bit different from the older 4.0s as your (06/07?) has a different cat configuration.

4.0 SOHC

01 - 03 - 4 cats
04 - 05/06 - 3 cats
07 - 2 cats?

From what i have found the 04 - 05/06 has the same cats as the 01-03, just one less. Less restriction, better flow, and better sound than the 01-03 trucks.

2500 puts me at about 80. Its only loud tho at WOT.

Its not annoyingly loud. I could stand it to be louder, but i don't want a highway drone like some other mufflers.
