would be a good swap...only thing that worries me about it is if you need to cut stock mounting brackets it seems like an insurance co would have a good excuse not to cut you a check if something went wrong (even though it is a safety enhancing mod). I'd let them know about the mod in writing if it were me.

when i take my rig in for it`s 25,000 klick service
i will get a more thorough look at the brackets and lines
i did not notice any difference between my 07 fx4 axle and the 2010 ranger sport 4x4 axle
they both looked like the same axle diameter
i have a contact in a ford dealership that can get their discount for me

after searching the web for various rear disc brake parts.
( stainless steel brake corp has the best info )
they are still very vague in regards the proper parts for rangers
and their adapters are not always bomb proof
i will always prefer going the factory route ,, unless the factory does not offer such an adapter/part
cutting a caliper mounting bracket to fit another application is not a wise idea in any way
especially in regards to our MINISTRY OF TRANSPORTATION
they are called in to every bad accident, and investigate those vehicles thoroughly
if they find a non dealer installed part on your vehicle ( i am talking about a modified bracket )
they themselves will file the charges against you

not all of the 2010 rangers have disc brakes on the rear end
i looked at several 010`s last year ,, every 1 of those rangers had drum brakes on the rear
that is why ~ i hit the jackpot ~ comment i made
i can now convert to rear disc brakes without going to several vendors to source parts
i just now copy down the vin number ,, and order small amounts of the required parts every 2 weeks
and before i know it,, i have all of the parts i need to convert

None of the '10 brakes will bolt to your current axle, hence the reason of the suggestion of mustang brakes, and my sarcastic good luck comment, lol.
If you know some basic physics, you can do the math and discover that cutting the mustang caliper bracket is basically as strong as your front brake brackets. If you are that worried, just get it welded to your axle flange but its no big deal. People have been running them without issue since probably 94 or so...
And why is this in the 4.0l motor section????....

stoptech has a decent pair of slotted rotors and performance pads on modbargains for a fair price. Really nice improvement, i ran that setup for a while. Lots of off road guys use it too since they have such big tires...

um dude, you can just swap in a newer explorer axle and do a sping over conversion.... you ger disk breaks, 31spline instead of 28, and a lot of times a nice limited slip. to do the spring over all you have to do is cut the old spring peaches and add new ones. and even if you elect to rebuild all of it and do new breaks youll be in it alot less $$
