bad day need help

Well on my way home from work i saw the temp needle shoot up so i immediately kill it and turn off. I find a hose neck broken on this thing below. i need to know the name of that part and about how much im looking at paying. Also i noticed on the way home that when taking a turn around 15 mph the steering wheel shakes really bad. Any ideas on the steering, i investigated when i got home but didnt find anything noticeable? thnx

It probably wouldnt hurt to pick up one of those Haynes repair books for your truck, in case no one knows or future incidents

i believe that i have figured it out. It's a heater control valve. That sounds right, and i googled it and clicked images and it showed some that look like mine.

That part is your heater valve, it's made of plastic, gets very brittle (as you found out) with age
I just changed out all the coolant hoses on my '00, changed this valve too, although nothing was wrong with the old one....yet
Go to the Motorcraft site and look it up, yours is exactly the same as what I got
Any reputable parts store should stock it
