NGK Iridium plugs

A friend of mine, who is also my trusted mechanic, is going to help me do the 90,000 mile service to my truck. We are going to do it at his shop, which means I will have access to all of his equipment, so EVERYTHING is getting done. He has suggested that instead of Motorcraft/Autolite plugs, I use the NGK Iridium plugs. Do any of you guys have any experience with these, would they perform better?
