I've recently replaced the fuel pump in a 1996 Ranger XLT 4.0L V6 when I realized the pump was not getting power. Traced back to inertia switch, which was also not getting power to send to pump. Fuel pump relay is not getting power to kick on, nor is the PCM relay. Have replaced the PCM with new unit, same problems. Have double, triple and quadruple checked all of the fuses and the two diodes in the engine compartment power distribution box. Could really use some insight here. Also, do not believe it is the anti-theft system, light never comes on when key is turned to RUN or START positions.

 

Make sure you are getting power from the ignition switch when it is turned on. Could be a bad ignition switch. I see that you posted two weeks ago. Have you figured it out yet?

 

dumb question but has been overlooked in the past.. the battery isnt dead or close to it is it?
