Hey everyone, first time poster on here. I just recently bought a 2005 Ford Ranger FX4 Offroad a month ago, and I am in love. I am wanting to put on the more lights. I have the 4.0 with automatic transmission. Originally I wanted to mount some KC's or Hella lights behind the grill, but with my automatic transmission radiator, I am not sure if that is possible. Anyone with any experience in this?

If I can't, I figured I'll either mount two lights to a bull bar, or directly to the bumper. I am mainly wanting a flood lights that just completely illuminates the road/wood ahead of me. What do you all recommend? I checked my alternator, and I have the 130 watt one, so I am not really wanting to have to upgrade that just for new lights.

my 100 watt spot lights will be mounted to the top of the front bumper , when the weather warms up enough up here

 

Yeah, i'm sure all those people who have their lights mounted behind their grilles have overheated their trucks idiot.

You can make it happen but you'll need to make two small brackets. the 2004-2005 grilles are recessed a bit so you can't just drill into the header panel. with the brackets, you can mount it to the core support and mount the lights themselves upside down onto the other part of the bracket.

I'll look for pictures later on but you can also search for em yourself.

 

Yeah I have never heard of anyone over heating from lights mounted behind the grill..

Thanks for the link. I think those pictures on the link are people who don't have the automatic transmission radiator though.

 

The blue 01 does. I'm not sure about the 05 though.. My guess is that the trans cooler wouldn't be much different on the 01 vs 05 if different at all. I could be wrong though

 

Yeah my bad the 05 is a 5 speed. It still shows a way that you could run the brackets though
