oil loss after shop work

oil loss after shop work
Rebuilt the 4.0 OHV in the Ranger a number of months ago and had the transmission rebuilt by a shop. I made sure to use the revised 2 piece rear main seal and installed correctly with specified tool. Ran it for 300 miles since rebuild and oil levels were great and not a drop of oil from engine anywhere.
I had to take the truck back to 2 shops for different work shortly after the engine rebuild:
First shop had to charge refrigerant in AC system and replace a line. They left the breather hose coming from passenger valve cover that goes to the intake/snorkle off. I did NOT know this and drove around until a week later before fixing this.
Second shop had to pull the rebuilt transmission back out and tear it apart and fix some things. They reinstalled it and I drove the truck home.
I drove truck around for a week and noticed oil leak from what appears rear of engine. I suspect rear main seal. Slowly drips only when engine is run. I then decided to drain the SAE30 break-in oil and fill the rebuilt engine with 5w30 synthetic. Holy shiite! I only drained out 1.5 quarts out of her! So i lost over 3 quarts of oil in the time of 1 week driving and the time at both shops.
Since the oil change and putting 5 quarts back in her, the level has been fine. Ive been driving it for over 3 weeks now. But i still have a small oil leak from back of engine somewhere now that I didnt have before.
QUESTIONS:
1. Do you think that with the PVC hose from passenger valve cover being disconnected could of caused oil burning? The PVC valve confirmed working and clean
2. Do you think all the oil dumped out of the rear main seal cause of this hose?
3. Do you think the 2nd shop replaced the rear main seal and put in a cheap aftermarket 1 piece seal and didn't bother to remove the the sleeve that was part of the new 2 piece seal i installed?
Im kinda ticked off at both shops for sloppy work. I put in a lot of money and time into this Ranger restoring it.
