Alright, well i have about 800 (well will have next month or so) bucks, and id like to do a nice exhaust system, and possibly some other things. Id like to do headers but i dont want my warranty on my engine to be voided so.. I was wondering if i went with a Bassani Xhaust set up. Anyone have this ?? From what i heard bassani is top of the line. So with this little bit of money what would you do for performance?

 

Aftermarket headers would not void the warranty unless they cause a failure.

I wanted the Bassani side exit at first but I didn't want to smash it while offfroading so I bought the Magnaflow single exit. It's loud when I want it to be and quite when it needs to be. Also there is no drone in the cab at all.

 

I'd do a SS aftercat of your choosing and then a crank underdrive pulley.

Then on down the road when you get the money, get a x-cal tuner.

There's so many different types of mufflers out there.. So i wouldn't know where to begin. I had a FM 40 series on my old 94 3.0 and it sounded decent but i lost (to me) some of my low end, even worse with the 3.0. So I think I'm going to go with the magnaflow duals.. Maybe high flow cat to go with it??

 

How much did that run you?

 

I think I got it for about $400. It didn't seal against the spring flange so I had an exhaust shot cut the flanges off and weld the pipes together.

 

Yea get a magnaflow system. Ive got the dual setup and it sounds awesome on my 3.0. Like fddriver02 said, loud when you want it, quiet whens it needs to be.

 

I was also thinking, of those magnaflow race series, then have it Y piped into duals...

 

Get the X-cal tuner. Proven to be the best bang for the buck mod for our trucks. and it doesnt matter if you add stuff after getting it.

 

ANyone have any info on the magnaflow race series mufflers?? Id have it Y piped into duals. The tuner im going to think on, as that is the most expensive thing listed so far lol but im going to consider it .

 

exhaust wont do much, ask anyone on here. The tuner, ask anyone, is what really adds some power

 

for 4.0 mods that total less than $1k here is the best order.

1. Tuner typically bamachips.com will also read trouble codes, and allow you to reprogram the speedo for larger tires. (definitely the best bang for the buck) you can also revert to original program and won't be visible by technicians.

The intake and exhaust work best together.

AS far as headers go unless you have forced induction it really isn't worth the cost unless you get a screaming deal and install yourself.

 

Very good input, and if you read through alot of the posts you'll realize a intake is a waste of money on our engines, just get a drop in filter ($30) an intake costs an extra $250 and gets you another 1hp over a drop in K&N, plus an itake sucks up hot air, and causes the computer to pull timing.
