RANGER Down ! ! !

So heres the story i have a 02 4.Ol sohc with about 272,000 miles on it and she let me down today for the first time ever, the truck has been in my family since 17 miles on the odometer. I was climbing a hill 4th gear about 3 grand and all of a sudden huge loss power and a what sounded like a lifter knock. So i pulled over and checked all the plug wires good oil was good coolant good. Any idea of what it could be?? ?

Plus no oil anywhere it was not supposed to be and no hissing or leaking noises.

Tensioner broke and a bank of valves kissing pistons. Id do a bank to bank compression check. Usually bank 1 will get out of time and bend the 3 intake valves. Just a guess though.

This.

Timing chain decided to OD on you. Isn't too bad to replace. I'm surprised it didn't blow 100k ago.

Nope never changed the timing chain. Most major thing i have done to it is shimmed the transmission. and countless cv axles and wheel bearings. So i cant complain about repairs as far as miles go.
