On a 2000 model you won't hurt anything with the non-silicant types.

What ever suits you is fine.

Okay well I got one other question for you guys...I decided I would go ahead and flush it and replace it. Now in the manual it says I need to back flush the heater core..well I couldnt figure out how to do this. What do I need to do? Can I just refill it and go ahead with it or what? Thanks guys for the help.

You don't have to back flush it.

If you have the time you ought to though. Just dis-connect the hoses on the firewall and use a water hose to flush out any debris that might be in there.
