The intake gaskets (plural) are of the "o-ring" type and are located between the intake manifold and the heads.

ECT = Engine Coolant Temperature sensor.

IAC = Idle Air Control valve.

 

The maf at the dealer here was 150 and 50 to install. They told me the same thing , that the aftermarket filter caused it , but it realy had . The end fell off and the glue broke off and went in and hit the maf and fuxed it up. But I still wasnt gonna pay that price so I got the girl i bought the truck from to get me a maf with her discount. Then it cost 75.I will never forget how it runs with a bad maf .It bearly ran, I had to keep the revs up.

 

aight well I was running down the road and my egr valve tube melted? I replaced it with a high heat EGR tube and now it is smoking. All i can think of is my exuast is running hotter than it should. What would cause this and why?

 

What is it made of? The factory tube is made of stainless steel which melts at over 2500F. The exhaust temperature in the headers peaks at about 1400F.

 

I am talking about the rubber tube that connects the two steel pipes.

 

The OE pipe is all steel except for the 2 short tubes that connect the small branch tees to the DPFE sensor.

 

oh, well mine is spit and has a rubber hose clamped on about 4 inches from the bottom near the colector, and then a 12 inch piece of rubber hose runs up and connets to another steel pipe up near the top. So this shouldnt be like that?

 

No, that is not stock and a rubber hose won't hold up to those temps for long. I wonder if the header installers did that "mod".

 

They did I un-screwed it and it was cut with a tube cutter............... OMG i have bad luck when it comes to poeple screwing with my stuff. But I blocked it off with a penny and I have some parts on order to install. But anyways the MAF is on the way and i hope that fixes the Idle problem.

 

From the sound of things, it wouldn't suprise me if it's the header/EGR setup that is causing the poor idle.
