SCT Tuner review

I decided to purchase a SCT Tuner (the latest version) and try it out on my 2009 Ford Ranger 2wd Sport. The tunes which came from Steeda included a 87, 91 and 93 tune which all work incredibly well. The shifts have improved allot, probably 100x better than stock (I'm not kidding). My truck is currently using the 91 tune and i'm using Shell 91 no-ethanol gasoline. The low end torque is very impressive which allows me to accelerate well without going over 2250rpm. I can see where the improvement would be in gas mileage simply based on not giving my truck as much throttle to accelerate. I was surprised how much timing was added with the tune including up to 8 degrees down low. I can easily light up the tires from a standstill. The only other mod i have includes removing the air box silencer and using a drop-in K&N filter (summer only). My next mod will be changing to a underdrive crank pulley, then maybe a 4:10 gear. I'm completely satisfied here. If you're on the fence regarding a SCT Tuner, it was well worth the money.

It's the SCT X3 Tuner, PN 3000 for Ford vehicles....this one: http://www.sctflash.com/products.php?PID=1&VID=

Just plug it in and download the tune of your choice. There are allot of parameters that you can adjust down the road if necessary.

Love mine as well, I have a custom tune on my 2.3L and it woke it up a lot.

I bet they're not. I would also guess he was messing with the settings and changed something he shouldn't have touched. Like maybe a rev limiter?

I've been waiting almost a month for Fred to finish mine.

Everyone says he is the guy to go to, so i'm cutting the guy some major slack. But if he doesn't get it together within a few weeks, he'll be holding up progress on my truck. I wanted to have everything together before i lift it and such.

Exactly why I had to switch to Don......

I originally purchased my tunes from Fred, but down the road when I changed things - The wait got way too long for a new tune - so I switched.

I've waited this long. Its not holding up progress yet. But in about two weeks it will be. So if i don't hear from him soon, i'll have to find another means.
From what i understand, these things are pretty unbearable to drive without a tune.

He moved a lot faster after I bought the tuner. Talking with him took forever. Once he knows what tunes you want and your PCM code, go ahead and buy it

I had Don at LoSota do mine as well. Excellent guy to work with and the tunes are SUCH an improvement over stock. You won't be disappointed!

I waited for months for Fred to get me a working tune. I had a computer code that he hadnt seen before so he had quite a bit of issues (not of his doing, it was with SCT) getting a tune working for me. I bought the tuner from him late last year and as of last week I only had two test tunes (1st one was too rich, the 2nd one the truck drove exactly like stock). I hadn't gotten a response from him in weeks so I finally just told him to forget it, of course he never replied and offered to make it right--big surprise. So now I bought a tuner for 389.95 that has done absolutely nothing for me except waste my time. I will be going with Lasota or just a canned tune SF3. Dont waste your time with Fred.
