Icon5 Sudden engine vibration and power loss

Hi.
Recently I've noticed that my '08 4.0 4x4 Ranger with about 55K miles suddenly starts shaking and loses power, usually going up a hill when I need power most. The first time it happened was after a heavy rain storm, so I figured maybe something under the hood had gotten wet. But it happened again yesterday with hot, dry weather conditions. And as suddenly as it starts, it just as suddenly stops, after about 2 to 4 miles. There were no check engine or any other warning lights on during this behavior. Anyone else ever experience this problem?
Thanks in advance.

Plugs, wires, coils, these would be my first guess.

Plug can fail or mis-fire under load, i.e. going up a hill.

luck

clean your throttle body and MAF sensor

55,000 miles is a lot to ask for from a original factory fuel filter
