i dont think the tech did the rebuild correctly. those 4.0s are strong motors, like thomas said we never see those engines in untill they are over 150k. and even then only problems we see are timming chains. good luck

I'm in Washington Court House, Ohio.

Chuck if you can do this I will definitely compensate! lol

Just got back to this dealer in Ohio with my cap. I'll have some pics up in a sec.

Damn dude, I have put my engine through hell and still haven't had the problems that you have had.

I am willing to bet that the tech didn't torque the rod properly or the torque sequence wasn't followed for the oil pan/main bearing caps.

Oh, and the tech won't lose his job over this. I am a mechanic on big rigs and stuff like this happens. The dealer will file it under insurance, he will get his engine repaired or replaced, and the tech will do it on a reduced pay scale.

Oh, and the dealer should also cover your rental up front. But it will have to be repaired at that dealership and you will have to bring the rental back to them when you are done. When my truck blew a freeze plug out the next day after being in the shop, I got a rental truck for free and my truck got put to the front of the line.

This happened Saturday @ 8:30a

Dealer closes Friday @ 5p and doesn't re-open til Monday @ 7a, the service dept anyhow. I called the dealer and all that were there were salesguys. They just said "I dunno, call back Monday morning".

I'm walking to BK to get myself some OJ, maybe take a nap, then call that dealer. grrrrr. I've been living out of this **** poor excuse for a ranger for two days now. grrrrr.

That was my first reaction too but wouldn't i need a new tranny then? If that's the case, I'd need a new transfer case. *Sigh*

I dunno what to do just yet....

Sorry to hear of your troubles man.
Now that Mobil 1 can say synthetic and be made from dino oil base, do you think they are trying someone else to lower their production costs and it can cause these problems?

The dude saying buy a Toyota needs to read up on the motor recall they have going on for many years back. Can you say, BIG recall? Yes, if was an American make the news would have it plastered everywhere but since it's foriegn you have to dig it up on the net.

It has nothing to do with the Mobil1 lol

It just seems like after I spend $40 on a case of Mobil 1, something like this happens. My other truck burnt like three days after a Mobil 1 change, I hydrolocked this one two days after a Mobil 1 change, and this happened less than two days after a Mobil 1 change. That's my luck though

Onto some pics of the rental with the topper. lol

I put masking tape on the bed rails of the rental so they wouldn't get b1tched up. Now it's being a royal pita to get it all off. It's just too cold. Oh well.

Yeah it accelerated up to 100 then dropped down to a 95 constant. I just couldn't snap the pic @ 100 quick enough.

Those of you going on about the Toyota suggestion...it was made more in reference to Travis trying a different brand since he is having such bad luck with his Ford Ranger.

No, I think that they make an adapter to bolt up the 302 to the M5OD that we have.

Ford will cover it guys, as long as it under warranty. The 4.0L V6 is a great engine. Consider how many of us use it without problems.... there's bound to be someone that gets the bad one. I feel your pain though. It looks really cold out there, damn. Maybe that has something to do with it.

The cold has nothing to do with it!
