Yea, i have the "throttle cable" mod, and it's great! When my buddies drive my ride, they always comment about the throttle response...... but i don't tell them about our little mod. I just let them think that 4.0 Rangers are not to be ****ed with!! Right??

i just thought of a good test for this.

Take a brick or something and drop the peddle to the floor. take the airfilter off at the carb and see if it is true WOT. befor after mod. dont know if its possible but could it turn the valve inside the carb too far? past wot to closing again?

Ok, I want to know who is responsible, and I want to know NOW!
Just did the zip-tie throttle cable fix..............Someone owes me a new set of rear tires!!!!!!!! I had over 1/2 inch of slack in my "98 Ranger XLT, used two black, zips to snug it up and..OMG! so much more pickup and acceleration that after I stopped from the first test drive the word "MICHELIN" on the rear meats was mis-spelled!!!!!!!
Befor the fix, I was only getting about 70% throttle opening! now my Ranger actually downshifts with authority when the go-pedal is mashed!!!
Thanks for the tip, great website, lots of great info.

Regards,
The Q.

I did it to mine with zip ties and it was awesome... You kinda get used to it after awhile but when you first do it you do feel a difference

Possibly. However, the scangauge manual says that on some vehicles it won't read 0-100% throttle. I know mine doesn't.

Ha sweet a 100,000 miles almost and near and inch of slack on the cable to the pedal. Sweet little mod this is for sure. I must be one of the lucky ones cause the truck shifts better (especially when punching it) and of course the response from it.
