I think as long as its not a FRAM, you're good to go. I searched, seems like either Stone or Shane posted a pic of all the filters in exploded view but i cant find it. The FRAM had a paper filter i think

I believe its the filter ends that are the big issue with them. I think they are cardboard and they basically fall apart.

IMO, ford wouldn't put their name on a crappy filter because they would be replacing motors left and right. I only use motorcraft oil and filters

Nine times out of ten is a motorcraft. Right now I have a K&N because of the combo deal O'reilys had.

I use the the Purolator premium filters with the mustard color grippy stuff on it. However there was a deal 5qrts of mobil 1 synthetic + a regular Purolator filter for $15 so I got two of those deals.

I will only use either motorcraft or the premium wix filters (Napa Gold, Carquest-not sure which line though).

I could care less on filter being good or bad, i run a fram tuffguard on my trucks and Mobil 1 filter on the wife's jeep

but at the most, i go 5k between oil changes, so going out of my way to get a motorcraft filter, when i would at a part and service shop, is a waste of time
