Timing on 4L sohc

So after lots of testing im doing timing chains as i discovered the rear guide was shot, engine pull, tears, blah blah

so the question being that my cloyes timing kit from rockauto 90398s didnt come complete. Also im seeing 90398sb which has the jackshaft sprockets for less. Do i need to change the sprockets or is the chain fine(already have the 90398s in the garage so returning it and buying the SB just for the sake if it isnt something im that into.)

which should i be running in a 2004 4l sohc v6 4x4? Why is the ‘S’ more than the ‘SB’ being more parts and 80$ cheaper??

finally who has a parts list of the Torque to yield bolts? And the front and rear upper guide bolts

thanks for help

mark

Hey Mark, I'm going through the same job right now. I hope you are all finished and everything went well but I wanted to offer some info I've come across while doing this project. There are several torque to yield bolts that do not come in the timing kits. Basically, if it came out of a shaft ford says toss it and replace it. I am erring on the expensive side and replacing the bolts. It also looks like the kit doesn't have new o-ring seals for those funky cassette bolts that go into the front and back of the heads. Those need to be replaced, they can't come out without the timing being reset, so now's the time. As for the kits, they look exactly like the parts I got from the stealership. Same color flimsy plastic accept for the passenger side rear, fords is greenish hued.

yeah i found out that there are a few TTY bolts and was delayed in the re build. I actually did all the timing with an otc kit and put it all back together and tested it. Something must have gone wrong somewhere lol. Furst time doing anything like this. Thanks for the info but just so you know the heads will come off with the block in the truck and with the timing chains still attached to the jackshaft. I was able to find a couple if videos showing it done and this didnt need to pull the *^%€ thing fir a third time.
