how slow is slow? How fast do you want a truck to go? Ive seen trucks run 10s at the 1/4mile track, and for a truck thats fast...

so unless you are going to compare a Ranger to a car or bike, they can go fast...In some cases faster then the car, but most likely never faster then the bike

this is a ranger site, and a post about the 4.0, if you cant be more open about it, maybe you should stop posting replies to the subject, and let people who want to learn and want to mod there engine post

I am open, I am sharing my opinion. You don't have to agree with it. How much power does that modified 4.0 OHV make? As much as a beater 5.0L mustang? Is it as fast as a $1000 motorcycle? I am just curious as to why people spend the money on these things. I seek enlightenment. I don't understand you and I want to.

i cant explain why people spend their money on engines, becuase thats not my thing, and i dont do it...

i spend my money on looks(trucks not mine) and yeah, i know i will never get anything out of it besides personal enjoyment and thats why i do it...And i assume thats why other people work on their rides, for personal enjoyment

djayenos: they are actually still puttin the 4.0 SOHC in the '05 stang

Dave and Julie: they do it because it is different, what kind of world would we have if everyone drove a 5.0 fox body coupe, pretty bland if you ask me, and the 207hp SOHC V6 isn't bad compared to a 220hp V8 mustang.

So it's a desire to be different then? I can accept that answer. The thing that I don't understand is why buy a Ranger if you want to go fast. i am guessing that the Ranger came first, and the desire to go fast came later.

I can not confirm nor deny that the base engine in the '05 Mustang is the 4.0L SOHC V6.

Not everyone can afford payments and what not, insurance...

I pay 257 a month, good enough for me...

My trucks quick for a truck, not the fastest, but i know im different from everyone else..

Just dont like being the same is all....

ya, the truck, insurance is another chunk of change, either way, with a stang, it would be more...Or any other go-fast car...

When you have a 13 second mustang people say so what. If you have a 13 secon ranger people are like wtf?

And I can confirm that the '05 stang will have the 4.0.

dave, the truck came first for me, but that doesn't mean anything. i guess the way that i looks at it i can't be "normal." i will always be doing things to the vehicles that i own.

I could confirm a lot of things if I didn't have a confidentiality agreement with the Ford Motor Company. :D

I suppose what you say is true. I guess I don't have that type of personality is all that's different about me. I tend to just buy vehicles for a purpose and leave them stock. My secret rationale is maybe an insecurity, if you modify something and someone thinks it looks stupid it's your fault. But if it is stock and someone makes fun of you, it isn't your fault, you didn't make it that way.

And here's another old fart comment, resale value. You can laugh at me for that one, I won't mind.

Resale is nice, when you're selling. I think with my Cobra it got me an extra couple grand vs. the modified ones. Plus you lose money in the mods you pay for. Just my perspective. I think mainly that comes from taking a beating selling my '92.

Really? I though it was just to act like a dick and see how far you can push the limits of civility before Christian does the right thing and bans you so you can call him a hypocrite, which is what you've wanted all along.

Who's being uncivil?

Ask a silly question, get a silly answer.

14.8 @ 93mph

It's got some exhaust work, an intake, an e-fan, and a flasher.

Is it fast? Fast is quite the relative term but it has shocked quite a few domestic V8s and high dollar import cars.

Why do we do what we do? To have fun. My truck is a blast to drive.
