You have an aftermarket intake right? Mike does it at certain throttle angle, Evans does it. Beards does it as well when he had it. If you are that worried about it then put stock airbox on and drive it.

It whistles at accel? If it does it at idle I would say it's the IAC. Whistling on acceleration would be IAC tho...

bingo! There's your answer... does it sorta sound like a supercharger humming? if so, thats it... theres a way you can take it off and clean out the carbon deposits, but I just bought a new one...

thats exactly what it sounds like. what is the IAC and where is it found, how much for a new one, and what does it do?

You have a SOHC and I have a OHV, so I'm not sure... my guess would be about the same place mine is... attached to the throttle body...

Idle Air Control

its a valve the controls the amout of allowed to enter for idle speed

You can try to clean it and relube it. The problem may go away.

New parts cost varies 50ish to 100, depending on vendor.
any parts house should have it or be able to get it

if you take off the SOHC cover you will see it. Its the grey thing on the intake just after the t-body.

i cleaned mine and it went away for a few weeks, but it came back.

may just wanna buy a new one

Whistling under accel (unless its very light) isnt the IAC
If its doing it at idle too It might be the IAC.

When Mine went on my thunderbird it was extremely loud and sounded like a cross
between a cow and a whale.

mine whistles also, I just think of it as my turbo. It doesn't bother me, but I do know it's there.

the iac sorta looks like this one, its on the right side of the throttle body (black cap off) when standing infront of the truck.
