93 Torque.....i figured since i never run above 3500 rpm's the Performance tune wasn't really good for my application......

I just loaded the 87 performance tune in last night and upped my idle to 854 rpm. I have a full tank of 87, so that will do for now. Haven't gotten on it to see how she shifts at WOT, but it feels smoother and the on-ramp went a little faster this morning.

I have yet to disconnect some "stuff" to make sure the other things I asked for are with the tune...

the shifting is 10000 times stiffer! i love it....between 1 and second it feels like someone is kicking me in the ****! tonight when i get home i am going to stiffin the shift in the rest of the gears and up my 1-2, and 3-4 shift points a few mph.......

i have advanced the spark quite a few degrees also.....since i am running 93 you can go up about 4 degrees and get a little more power out of it....and since i am running the Screamin' Demon coil pack also, i figure it will optimize that new coil and larger spark plug gap also...

Will it also defeat the governor? Cause I'm limited to 93-94mph not that, I'd really want to go any faster than that, but I'd like to have some bragging rights to go along with my torque numbers (in a car club with a couple ricers, haha)...

Like I said, through town the shift feel about the same as stock (just hold a little longer). Have not tried WOT.

So there is a pretty good difference with the 93 torque, but is there a good difference with the 93 performance? Most often I just give my truck enough gas that it gets to around 3 grand on shifts, I'd probably want to run torque most of the time so it sounds! Also I think my truck has alot of ***** in the high end already, its just the low end that sort of lacks.

We don't have the option of 93 here so I'm running the 91 Torque. I have 87,89,91 performance & 89,91 torque tunes saved on my computer & have the 87 Perf., 89 & 91 Torque loaded on the programmer. I really like the 91 torque over the 91 perf. tune @ least for me. I've got the rev. limiter @ I believe 6000 in neutral & drive, the speed limiter set off & I've cranked the shifting pressure as far as it goes..I think its either 20 or 25. I haven't messed with the timing or the a/f mixture. Its awesome!! I hoping to take this heavy *** 4x4 out to the strip soon & if this thing doesn't break into the 15's I will be very disappointed. My coil & wires should be here tomorrow & I'll be doing them & new plugs gapped @ 65 soon I hope, I also lightened up the tires & wheels from what I had.
I know exactly how you feel Maurice, its SWEET!!

Rick

I wish I saw more of a difference at part throttle (shifting). I don't WOT the Ranger that often.

I put 93 in it last night so now I have 1/2 87 and 1/2 93, so I bumped up to the 89 tune and upped the shift firmness 5% and the shift points a couple of mph, but we got dumped with snow this morning I can't try it yet.

if you want the shift pressure to be up at less than WOT, then firm them up all the way........that will really make you feel it at low OT...

What is it like at WOT that way? You sound like you have experimented a lot.

I wish I didn't have to take the fuel pump fuse out each time. Kind of gay. LOL

I'm used to custom chips...

^^i haven't taken the fuel pump fuse out......for one i couldn't find it...lol.......

at WOT, it is like a swift kick in the ***.......a good hard shift.....the kind of shift that would scare most people into thinking that their tranny is about shot........my 1-2 shift at lower throttle is a good firm, hard shift......i was going to play with my shift points yesterday, but i had to go to the funeral home.......on the way their whenever i would take off from a stop and the truck would shift from 1 to 2, my girlfriend would be like: " your transmission is going out!!" and she would freak out and think we were going to get stranded......
