1988 V8 Ranger starting problem!!

I have a Ranger with a 351w in it.Put it in over the winter. The problem Im having is,when I crank it over to start. It wont start till I let off the key.I checked it.Im getting 12v to my msd 6AL box when Im cranking it over but when I let off it isnt there. But it will start.Could it be the ignition or do I need to run a wire to the battery to the msd box with a toggle switch. So that the 12v is there constant.

im not sure man sounds like something may be hooked up wrong with the wires going to the switch are the wires coming off the solenoid.

I fixed it the other day.I tested the coil it was good.MSD gives you speaker connections to the coil to slide the wires on.So I cut them off and put stakeons on.Then cranked on it ,and started to run.So now I can start it by cranking it over.Unlike cranking it and letting off the key and hoping it will start. Thanks for the help.
