2001 5.0 Swap Questions

So I have a 2001 Ford Ranger, Looking at the 5.0 explorer swap and know the details on that, but was wondering if you swap in an engine from a non pats vehicle if you have to do anything with the original pats system or if it would bolt right up.

I also read something somewhere about someone bypassing their pats system but I don't remember where or how.

Thanks

Pats has no effect on bolting in parts, its a software thing. It can be removed with tuner.

If you use an engine and ecm from a non-pats vehicle, you will not have pats and it will work fine.

tuner - pats

Hell-o I'm new here on this forum. I have a 99 exp. 5.0 (donor - whole rolled vehicle, all parts good) going into 02 ranger edge. I have an SCT 2 tuner from a previous vehicle, can I delete the pats system with it, the 02 sensors? Also for the speed-o (exp rearend going into ranger) where does the wire go to from the rearend for the vss signal? thanx

A SCT will do everything asked.

In expos the sensor for the VSS is the ABS sensor on the top of the pumpkin.
In 01+ Rangers the VSS is in the tranny

Thats because the 2.5L is from 98-00s. It ran for another half year into 2001 before the 2.3L DOHC released. Your 01 1/2 is grouped in with pre-01s.

Hey all, sorry to revive an old thread but I was interested in doing a 5.0 swap, I have a 2001 Ranger 2WD with a 3.''why was I built'' and was interested in swapping in a 5.0 this upcoming spring. I read the link posted above but that seems to mainly focus on 2000 and below Ranger 4X4's, and it seems to focus mainly on the Expo, please excuse me for my n00biness but wouldn't any vehicle with a 5L work? Like a Crown Vic or Marauder? Just curious in knowing what the difference is between the two as I always thought a 5.0 was a 5.0. And I wanted to know what modifications would I have to make to the driveshaft? Not really planning on doing anything wild, just putting one in, dropping a cam or something like that in it and calling it done, then maybe in the fall taking it out and Procharging it.
