Need some help with Wiring up my 5.0
Hey everyone, I'm kinda new to here, been browsing for a while, Love the environment, and everyone seems to be VERY helpful and knowledgeable!
So i'll explain my problem...
Just bought my first ranger. a 96, single cab, long bed, with a 5.0 in it. Out of a mid-late 80's mustang i believe, it is carbuerated. https://www.ranger-forums.com/f12/ki...ranger-114191/ There's the thread if anyone's interested. Lol
Anyways. When i bought it... the wiring was a complete disaster... they had wires for the aftermarket gauges running thru the firewall BEHIND THE GAS PEDAL, and without a grommet! So needless to say, the wiring caused a lot of problems.. i ended up with a lot of shorts, a small fire, and a lot of headaches... Wiring is now done correctly. ( what was ran through the firewall in that position at least. ) So what i'm left with running into the cab is:
Two switches: One for the starter ( a momentary push-button switch ) ran to the starter solenoid ( duh ) and another switch, which runs a ground, a constant power straight to the battery ( thinking i should add this to the fuse box under the hood, instead.. ) and a power to what i'm pretty sure is the alternator.. Does this sound right? The motor isn't hooked into any of the stock ranger wiring, that i'm aware of... although most of it is still there. This is how it was wired when i got it, and it ran fine?
If anyone needs more info on where wires are running or anything, just let me know, i can find out, and let you know if it'll help!
So thanks for anyone that can give me a hand. i appreciate it!
