Will it fit?
I found a 5.0 HO + auto tranny off a 94 5.0 mustang for a pretty good price. Will the tranny fit or do i need one of those explorer ones?
If it does'nt fit, i know the explorers have a good tranny that can be used can't remember the numeration at the moment, i also read around here to stay away from the aod transmissions.Any other fords trannys that could go in my 1997 extended cab 6cyl auto truck for the v8 conversions?
Thanks in advance i been reading around for a couple hours and need some answers.

If I remember correctly the 94 mustang had an AODE transmission in them. Somewhat similar to the 4r70w internally, but not as preferred. In order to run the 4r70w trans from an Explorer you would either need to use an explorer wiring and PCM or a stand alone unit to control the transmission. As for fitting they are roughly the same size, and both would need to be "made" to fit. I definately say stay away from the standard AOD transmission, I despise them and have ruined numerous ones.
