t-5 is manual, C4, C6 and AOD are autos, but a C6 is probably too big and overkill for your application

t-5s arent complete junk... with my experiences ive had a few live up to the task of daily abuse in mustangs, but yet see other guys go through a few of them a year. its all how you drive them. yes they are weak, but ive had the stock t5 in my 92 mustang weighing in at 3150 with me in it and about 280hp at the wheels for a couple years now with me racing everything i can find. regular trips to the track, flat shifting every chance i get... but i never miss a gear, maybe thats the key.

t-5's are ok if you get one with a good gearset, such as out of a cobra or similar. It also is gonna depend on the weight of vehicle its going in and lb ft of torque motor will have. It is also a plus if you have a low ratio geared rear-end, it lessens the strain on the tranny to turn the axles and creates less bind. Another plus is having an aftermarket shifter in a t-5 helps them last longer.

BUT having said all that there are better trans. than a t-5
