5.0 Jackpot :)
My buddy on a bmw forum found me a great deal on a 302.. so I had to hop on it..
This is the ad in the other forum post...
"The block is a "mexico spec" F150 (these are forged)
new rod bolts and berrings,
new valve kit pushrods,valves,seats,springs,cam,ect (oem)
pistson cleaned and with new rings, cyclinders honed
heads are from a 93 mustang and are ported and polished
new MSD ignition (cap,rotor,ect)
elderbrock breather valve and water neck
crank machined and turned
every single gasket and seal on the motor is new as well,(head gaskets, valve
cover gaskets,water neck,exhaust,intake manifold,carb,distributor,oil
pan,water pump, head journals, ect.
this motor can either be carborated or fuel injected as I wasnt sure which route I was going to go so I bought the parts for both
also includes accessory bracket and and accessories(alternator,AC,idler)and stock headers
if you choose to go with fuel injected you will need the fuel rails and injectors(these can be found anywhere for under $100 for everything), if you go with carb'd then you will need the actual carb itself(what bolts to the carb manifold)
The entire motor was dipped, degreased, preped, primed, and painted with VHT high temp engine paint( about $100 in paint alone)
The motor is basically new and will need to be "broken-in" before ran hard (rings need to seat ect. ect.) It will also need spark plugs, wires, and the acc belt.
The engine also come with a brand new engine stand($180) that I literally bought for this project, it is not even a month old!!!!
Asking $500 obo, I have easily double into it :'(
pics in a few"
...... Needless to say I got it for $300 and so Im hunting for more parts.
Anybody have any tips/hints on parts and what not?

Time to grab a couple of beers and start reading. You have ALOT of work ahead of you.

Yeah, you'll have to use the 96-mid97 exploder manifolds if its going in a 98+ ranger. Also, you will need the exploder computer, upper and lower intake, water pump, timing cover, accessory brackets, balancer, etc. I bet the heads are E7s, which isn't the best, but maybe you got lucky and they are off a 93 Cobra... look at the corner of the head next to where the Exhaust manifold bolts on, right above the block surface (it will be towards the front on the drivers side, towards the rear on the pass side) and see if it has a "GT" cast onto it. If so then they are GT40 heads. But in any situation, $300 for a rebuilt long block is a steal. Do you know if it has a roller cam in it? I would guess no which kinda sucks... but still not a bad price. If its a factory cam like the ad says then factory explorer tuning should run it ok as long as the firing order is the HO (351W) style. One more thing, the Mexican blocks are not forged, they are just a slightly thicker casting and in turn are stronger than an American block of the same year.

I'm the guy that found it for him. I've never done a motor swap but I was key in building this:
I can TIG and MIG weld and a whole lot more, so I think we'll be okay with all the info available out there. Only problem would be lack of tools here in FL , and lack of ME here in FL lol (go to school in NY). But I do know a guy with a 302 swapped Ranger who would probably be willing to help out in exchange for a few PBR's haha. We'll see what happens, long term project for sure, but we definitely are capable.
As far as plans for the motor go, it's up to Victor (the azn guy) what exactly gets done. If he does plan on making major performance mods to the motor, I'm gonna make him put in Megasquirt for at least fuel. But I think the main goal right now is just to get the engine installed with a better tranny, get everything working mechanically first. Then, later, POWERRRRR

Good luck to your frame, and front suspension. I can already see the spindles breaking. Lol, in the end, I can tell yours is gonna be a botch job just by seeing your "I'm too lazy to do it right" half *** attitude. And by the way, the 302 will easily run with that pig *** 460 you keep bragging about.
