5.0 swap on 2000 ford ranger v6 3.0 complete

After a long month i have finally completed my swap, it was alot easier than i imagined it would be

I used a 1997 ford explorer engine
All the accessories and original oil filter housing with the oil cooler

Stock driveshaft
Stock trans cross member
And even the stock engine mounts with adapter plates

Since my truck is lowered 3 inchs i had to custom weld something to hold my o2 sensors and allow my engine to run fine

Right now im running into a major issue

I ran the truck with original fuel regulator in the tank and the regulator on the line, the regulator died and was throwing alot of fuel, i changed the regulator and fuel injectors. Keep in mind i have the return line hooked up too

Truck does run and start fine but my scanner reads a high fuel trim like if it was running lean
, however it has alot of fuel not being burnt correctly and can be smelled in the oil, i checked my vaccum leaks, my maf and air temp sensor and i dont see any issues, my engine does not miss fire but whenever i down shift and rev match it begins to bog and back fire
could it be the 02 sensors that have died or can it be something else

My fuel trims land between 4 to 23 on both banks however bank one sometimes freezes on 23 or 32
keep in mind it doesn't missfire or have a crazy misefire feel

Congrats on the conversion

2000 Rangers ran 60psi fuel pressure, so the FPR(fuel pressure regulator) in the tank is set for that
1997 Explorer V8 ran 35psi pressure

Neither has a "fuel pressure sensor" so 1997 V8 computer expects 35psi at each injector, if its 60psi then Rich running

In 1997 the FPR was on the engine, so remove the FPR in the gas tank

I had removed the in tank regulator after changing out my injectors and fuel regulator at the fuel rail, and i still have the same issue of bogging the engine at a down shift

could a short exhaust cause the 02 sensors to read too much oxygen therfore having a lean condition and asking the engine to throw more.fuel?

No, not unless exhaust was clogged or has an air leak on exhaust manifold(pre-O2)

But if both banks are showing Lean then it has to be something common to both sides

MAF sensor
Upper intake air leak, PCV valve, EGR valve
Fuel Pressure

Can no catalytic converters also cause that issue ?

It can/will cause richer running but not that Rich

Downstream O2 sensor(s), after the Cats, are there to see if Cats are burning up the remaining oxygen in the exhaust
Cats use unburned fuel and remaining oxygen to get HOT and stay HOT, when they are HOT they also burn up pollutants, in simple terms, lol
If Computer doesn't see low oxygen from downstream O2 sensor(s), it will add a bit more fuel to get more unburned fuel to the Cat to try and heat it up more
Might add +2%, if that, to fuel trims

It was the iac valve it was staying open and messing with the 02 sensors

Now my short fuel trims.are between -.08- .08
the stalling turns out to be my ac compressor which locked up , my wiring kinda stucked i think and i made it always engage the clutch so it burnt the ac compressor out, however the locked up compressor was causing pulley resistance, so now my truck drives and downshifts perfectly

Thank you bro

I am looking to buy a southern kept 2000 Ford Ranger XLT with the 4.0 v6 2wd but it has 245k miles, and a really bad overheating problem here in Ohio for $500 purely for a v8 swap (5.0 v8 from 97-01 explorer or mountaineer, M5OD-R2 manual transmission and BW 4406 transfer case from a 97-03 4.2l v6 f-150)
IF I can find these parts at a junkyard/cheap marketplace deals, from what i've gathered from Mudslinger's swap: https://www.therangerstation.com/tec...ger/#gsc.tab=0 it's pretty straightforward.
Am I overlooking anything, any issues I could run into? Any huge expenses to expect (programming the explorer computer, adapter kits, mounting brackets, ANYTHING that I didnt mention, or isnt mentioned in mudslingers swap)?
Planning to do this and have the ranger streetable by 02/19/25. Any help is appreciated
Background, I'm an assistant manager @ an automotive repair facility so plenty of space, tools, time, and expertise
