no, they were still obd1, most obd2 stuff didn't really start until 96.. there is not an obd2 5.0 mustang until 2011 haha...94-95 have the plug, but the PCM is not OBD-II compliant. if there was, you wouldn't be able to find them because way too many people would swap the wiring and computer into their mustangs after going turbo ect

I am a newbie with a 95 Ranger w. four banger and a 5 spd, 2 WD. I have thought about the swap of a 5.0 v8. Have been reading these threads of the Explorer engine and have a stupid question. Why couldn't one swap a Mustang 5.0 with 5 spd and electronics in Ranger, as compared to an Explorer? Did you consider this?

Newbie here again. Thanks to rangerunner11 for the reply. Ques for both RR11 and FR1998, as you both are way ahead of me, am I to assume that both the Explorer and Mustang 5.0 will bolt right up; and what about mounts for both the engine and the tranny? I see in your photo FR1998 that the engine and tranny, as one looks ready to drop right in. Also photos of brackets (painted black). What are they for? I have identified locally a 1997 Explorer with beat up body with eng miles of 191,000 for $1000 and a 97 Mustang convert (decent body & top) with eng miles of 206,000 for $1500. I could buy either one and swap everything without modifying stuff. What do you think?
