EGR 01 Explorer 5.0

Well, fininshing up the last few things on my swap. My EGR line and fitting is all screwed up though, threads messed up and everthing siezed together. I think I'm gonna buy new so I can take it on and off without twisting the whole thing.

I found the line and the valve on RockAuto for about 65 dollars for the pair, no nut tho (the nut that connects the line to the maniford). I'm not sure where to get the nut, possibly the Ford dealer. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome.

Thanks.

Block it off......its cheap and easy! Go to your local hardware and get a cap from the plumbing section.

Run no EGR and tune it out so no code! Problem solved.

I'd like to get a tune to tune out the auto trans codes as well. I'm not sure who to see about getting a tune for a v8 ranger. I'm assuming just get a tune for an 01 explorer? Would running it blocked off without a tune cause issues?

You can delete both functions with an SCT Tuner. Check out Rogue Performance or Bama Tuners....there are several companies to choose from. They will sell you the SCT Tuner and add custom tunes for you prior to shipping out.

I'm assuming you've had good results with Henson Performance? What kinda tune/tuner do you have?

I've heard of those companies before but I thought they were stricktly for V6 and I4 rangers. Didn't know they could tune a V8. I'll have to look into it.

Look local too. Buying a tune off of the interent also means not getting top results performance wise. I have a local guy, thats known all across the south for tuning mustangs doing mine. I can't remember what he called the program he is using, but he has to cut out the back of my computer casing, and add a chip to the mother board that will stick out the back out the computer. Then, once I work out any bugs and leaks I will go back to his shop and dyno tune, He will pull it until he is satisfied with the outcome.

I'll update you monday on what the program he is using is called. That's when I pick up the computer.

Ok, so the v8 has been in and running for a few weeks now and i have a few hundred miles on it. So far it has ran "ok". It runs great driving down the road but has a lopey idle, kinda like it has a semi agressive cam in it. It sounds awesome but I know it has the factory cam and it should not act like that. I scanned it today at work and other than the trans, pats, and air bag codes, I got these:

Fuel pump secondary circuit high
EGR flow excessive

I'm starting to think I have an intake leak somewhere. Anyone have any experiance with these codes or ideas of how to make it idle like it should? I think I'll start with a can of carb cleaner and search for an intake leak.
