Well i went into the local Junk Yard today just looking around....and i found a 1999 Mountaineer with a 5.0. it has 152,000 miles and a bad tranny. it has the EATC and all that stuff too. the guy said i can tow the truck to my house and take what ever i need off of it (motor, tranny, rad, column, hoses, pcm, ect) and then tow it back to him for $850...does that sound like a good price with the bad tranny and all. also he doesnt have the keys for it but he said he can get it running...im not sure what that entails what do u think? do u think he will have to cut wires ect or what. how would u get past the PATS system? i thought that was the point of PATS, so that u had to have the key to start it. any way what do guys think.

i have a feeling the tranny is gonna be the breaking point....i dont have the money to rebuild it at the time....and the tail shaft issue.....i think ill have to wait and hope another pops up...

 

You should just store it until you have the cash

yep just store it till you get the cash thats what im doing ive got a 5.0 and aod trans siting in the shed now. im waiting on finding the truck to put it in.

If that is a good price where you live I would jump on it. Here where I live you can get a complete engine for 200 and a trans for 80 from the local junk yards.
