There are many vendors that will make a wire harness for you, and there are generic motor mount plates available for fabbing up to any vehicle. Try LS1tech.com.

This is on my bucket list. I want a gen III small block first gen ranger

There is a guy here locally that makes a three wire hook up wiring harness for the nutswinger LS'es.
LS1 only make 275 to 315 HP and that is super easy to to make out of a 302 using all factory made stock parts.

Yes, but that doesn't have the coolness factor! Also, these bottom ends can take more than a stock 302 bottom end can take.

1st, No don’t do it, CROSSBREED - Not !
2nd, it will fit nicely in the 87 and may be easier to wire up than the FORD, I think There is a kit out there for it also.
3rd, beat the living $hit out of it and blow it up
4th, replace LS1 with 5.0L/Supercharged.
5th, did we already replace the blown engine…

Good luck, may not be what I would do but if it is what you want go for it !

Coolness factor?? What is cool about a LS engine? Yea look at what I got its a nutswinger LS1 so I am cool now. Them LS engines are not a good looking engine at all and that is why GM makes covers for them. You want a coolness factor the Ford 32 valve engine looks way cool in the open, say like in a roadster and no gay looking plastic covers on it.

Its not that the engine looks cooler, its that its cooler to be thinking out of the box, cooler to swap in a more capable engine, and cooler to have something a little different. I'm definitely not brand-specific, I'm better-engineering-specific and the LS series is hard to beat, so if he got it cheap, he may be able to get everything in cheaper than with a Ford. More power/coolness to him!

There is nothing wrong with crossbreeding however, it is funny when someone thinks that using an engine that everyone else is using in everything out there is unique. There is no coolness in that now so in this case yes crossbreeding is wrong. Now if you had a Corvette a 5.4l 32 valve Ford GT engine would be a super coolness factor engine in it. Just imagine twin turbos on a stock GTengine making 1200+ HP.........

true, true. In order to be unique you gotta do something crazy like beards project. The ls1 is quite a bit over used. you should sell the ls1 and buy like a 454? that'd be pretty damm unique.
