ditto @Korey. There's a reason GenIII GM small blocks are used widespread across all brand boundries. I'm sure HazzardJohn has a thing or two to say aboot it....

Me personally, I want a GenII 6.0 with a carb manifold under the hood of my '71 Chev backed by a T56.

yeah I'm over brand loyalty etc. As long as its a badass V8 pushing the power I want and it fits/works so be it. I mean I'll throw that new 5.0 in my truck..but a badass LS would scream, they also have some of the loudest and unique exhaust notes. and all you need is a cam, exhaust and some valve work and its got more power than you need

LS1 is all aluminum 5.7 and its small, so a good engine to swap. I won't cross bread myself, but I understand the whole LS? or LQ4 thing. Chevy still uses a pushrod V8 and they make a ton of power with 16 valves and alot less space. LS1 is my least favorite though as it has the same issues of a aluminum 4.6, and that is crank walk. I do know a guy thats got about 700rwhp out of a stock LS1 and its been holding up for 25,000 miles, since new bearings and stuff. What tranny did you end up with, you can use a th400 and not use one bolt hole. Else wise your gonna need a Computer to run the 4l60E or 4l80E. Should try to get a 5.3 or a 6.0 though. Check out the 5.3 turbo ford fairmont. That thing is amazing. Tune with megasquirt. :) YouTube - Worlds quickest STOCK LS based Motor

Nice! I have a 2000 Trans Am with an LS1 in it, it has almost 197,000 miles now and still running strong. Turns 12 second time slips too, great engine! And that is in a car that weighs just over 3600 pounds with light modifications, I can imagine in a Ranger. My '04 Ranger has the beefy 2.3L 4 banger, I'm jealous over the V8 Rangers out there. Good luck with your project

no updates? dont care what anyone says it will be a badass project and will go fast.

it is definitely unique, just cause lots of people have them in cars, how often do you see an ls1 ranger cruising around?

It will def. be a fast Ranger. I have never seen one of those swaps in one. Shouldn't be too hard though. My Chevy swap was pretty involved but was totally worth it

I have a running ls2 and 6 speed trans , and i thought about putiing it in my 94 ranger . That was till i did some measuring . Everything will have to be custom . Wiring is a pain for the gauges to work , oil pan etc ...... So much easier and cheaper to do a 302 swap . Id do a 351 swap before a ls1/ls2 swap .

your high on crack all ls1 make 312 or more, my lt1 makes 278hp 330ft lbs stock, the lsx just makes even more and get 300hp out of some junk azz beat on 302, thats prolly a non roller and ill kiss your azz. ive owned more mustang 5.0s than the next guy and theres a reason i dont have one anymore. a 5.0 ho with mass air makes 225hp. where are you going to make 100hp? and you probably wanna run a carb to too huh, lol, your intake, carb cam swap isnt gunna make you 330hp untill you bendover and buy a set of afr's. i love ignorant dumb asses. you just got owned by a newb, and yeah im a tech and a former mustang abuser, so what do you know from real life? hearsay, parroting what you read some place, stfu retard

you think? i think its a close call both are amazing motors which deserve respect. now a 03 cobra motor with a pulley swap and we can talk.i dont think the 32v is better than the last ls1 put out. but its nipping on its heals

More power/coolness to him!
or he can sell me the motor for what he paid for it and ill swap out my lt1 in my 94 z28camaro.lol i turned to the dark side for a reason even the lt1 is superior to the 302 or 4.6l stock for stock, but ive learned to never try to convince ford guys of anything, hell i used to be one my self. ive owned over 7 mustangs, sometimes keeping it simple is best though and its gunna be a hard swap and it would be easier to sell the ls1 and go another route its worth over 1k. i was lurking on here because i wanted a 93+ ranger 4x4 but maybe theres a reason i dont want fords when i get lumped in with ignorant owners who thing they are better than everyone else. im not brand specific.i dont care what people think and just a fyi my probe is a mazda f2t motor, theres nothing ford on it, the ecu is mazda. so really dont go there. i love driving the car that was supposed to replace the mustang and spanking them too:P

Ok I maybe new here but why bash someone for doing some thing ??
Really this guy has a great idea THE LS1-LS6 and LSX motors are some of the best out there be it they are not made by FORD But man they make really good power for way less many than and with lower octane than a Built 302 or 351 be it stroked or not. Sorry I have no brand loyalty I have a 95 Dodge Ram 2500 with a cummins My wife has an 89 Blazer On 36's (Show truck) I have a 91 Ranger thats been tubed and has a Mild 306 in it (Yes its a ford and it over heats in traffic) and i have a Beater plow truck thats a 2000 Ford F250 with the triton V10 in it. Now if I was putting a new engine in my Ranger and got a Great deal on any LS motor Id be putting in it and go really fast!
Its lighter than a 302 or a 351 and it can make way way more power on 93 octane fuel!

Sorry I maybe hated on here now but I dont think its right to bash some one for some thing they do like this. TO EACH THERE OWN!

I like the idea and I say do it and Ill be here to follow along as you do
