Icon4 ABS Trouble after 5.0 swap

After my 5.0 swap I got an ABS Light on the dash. From what I read the ABS doesn't go through the PCM on either my donor (99 Explorer with 4 wheel ABS) or the truck it went into (99 Mazda B3000 with rear wheel ABS). Can anyone confirm this? Any ideas on why I'm getting this light? I need to get rid of it to get an inspection sticker.

It would help to have the ABS code(s) pulled by a Ford dealer. Does the speedometer work?

Speedo works. Could I get this done at autozone or is it a dealer only code?

ABS is dealer only i think. Or if a mechanic has the correct machine

I'm trying to avoid going to the dealer, they just laugh and tell me they don't do any work on "modified vehicles". I can go over to the next town and get service sometimes, but its sketchy at best. I'm trying to eliminate some simple things first if possible.

Would having the cruise control servo disconnected affect the abs?

What device would the dealer use to read the codes?

do the inspection people even check abs? if they dont then pull the bulb and try it.

have you read over Bobs thread about all the abs stuff he did ? Maybe you need to get an ABS module from an explorer.

Being 2001+, my truck was a different (worse) situation than his 99. He needs to keep the Ranger RABS Module to match the RABS. The 4WABS Module from the Explorer won't work unless the truck is fully converted to 4WABS.

Most modules can be read using an NGS+ or equivalent. The RABS Module may need a special RABS reader, since it is not on the Module Communication Network - not sure about that though. Some independent shops may have a reader that is ABS capable but many will not. Autozone generally does OBDII powertrain trouble codes only and that does not include ABS.

Did you swap in the Ex rear axle or retain the Ranger axle?

Ranger rear currently, and using the explorer after a regear and brake job.

This doesn't make sense. You have essentially the same setup I had/have - 99 explorer with 99 ranger/B3000. Hmmm... I never had any ABS issues. I would check the circuitry behind the CC linkup. Since you do cancel cruise with brakes, possible - I suppose. Otherwise, I am at a loss. Maybe you have a short / broken wire somewhere? Would recommend going through the trouble shooting in the Ford Service CD for ABS waring light.

Looking at the schematics, a 99 Ranger/Mazda should require no ABS changes for the Ex V8 swap, regardless of whether it has RABS or 4WABS. Probably something was damaged or miswired during the swap. That's why a trouble code would be helpful.

It was probably wired a little wrong, I'd go with a new ABS module and check the wiring for it. The wiring itself can be a little off but will still shoot codes back even though nothing is wrong through the ranger's guage cluster. The S10 swaps that I did in the past only the first one had that problem and we did a little check and ended up rewiring the RABS.

Well the dealer was no help. I did get a way to check the ABS code my self, but I'm so busy with work I haven;'t have time to play with it. I'll let you know what comes of it, probably this weekend.
