Much like the title says, is it possible to put subs in a non extended cab 2-door ranger??

I have an 8" Bazooka EL series that i mounted behind my seat but I can't put it all the way back now and I am 6' tall..

I tried to look for sub info but it seems like all the posts are for extended cabs.. Has anyone done them in this kind of a cab?? If so what are you running?

There's no way around the fact that you're going lose some leg room adding subs in a reg. cab even w/Thunderforms. In my old 86 reg cab, I went with 8" truck style enclosures which measured 6.5 " on the bottom. They fit nicely on the shelf behind the seat.I still lost a little leg room but it was tolerable.I don't know how much space you have behind your seat, but you could always have an enclosure custom made for your application or check out ebay.

Thanks for the offer but as it is the music that I listen to is mostly country and (stage musicals).. I just like a little extra punch to the songs.. But I just got a great idea from you guys... I think the speaker and AMP board are pretty good. What i am going to do is go to home depot and buy some plywood, get some interior carpet from my store and build a box for the truck using the internals form the bazooka. Then I could have the 8" sub with a bandpass and custom fit it to the space I have.. The leg room factor is not a problem. A little room is no big deal but right now I have to have the seat 11" from the back to fit the thing.. Not cool..

I think I could put something together and make it fit, and just use the board and sub from the tube..

It is possible. I bought dual 10" sub box off of EBAY and I lost minimal leg room with it installed.

I now have a custom fiberglas box with two (yes, 2) 12" MASSIVE Audio subs. I have as much if not more room with that box than I did with the box with the 10's. Anything is possible.

P.S. I still have that box for the 10's if you want it.

I lost no room in my old truck with the thunderform. The only thing is the sub will rub the back of the seat with the surround. An MTX is a fairly inexpensive sub and I ran it that way for 2 years and still use the sub in my new truck. Never hurt the proformance just made a lil soft spot on the rubber surround.

 

in my 96 i had 2 10's in there and lost some leg room so i took one out and left one behind the passenger side seat. i used a soundstream spl in a small truck box. When it would hit hard the cone would hit the back of the seat but it didn't damage it.

So if I am going to build my own box, is there anything I should know?? Is there a specific type of wood to use??

I only work on engines and computers. and spent about 4 years in a machine shop working on alloys and composite plastics / resins.. I am by no means a carpenter. and I think a speaker box made entirely out of aircraft aluminum would just plain be a bad idea. Although perhaps making it out of polycarbonate would be fun

Use medium density fiberboard (mdf). Ideally you should know how much airspace that woofer needs to perform optimiumly, and build your box accordingly. I'm assuming you want a sealed enclosure, ported is a whole different ballgame.
You can buy a box from Subsdotkom for around $30.00 shipped. Given the amount of time and money you'll spend on material do you really want to go that route?
On the other hand you will have an enclosure built specifically for your truck.

hell, i never had leg room to begin with, being 6'2" with my knees in the dash

but i have a small box, and i didnt lose any legroom, and then when i installed mustang buckets, it gave even more room for a box
