08 Ranger Amp Install Questions

Got my Christmas present today. Alpine MRP-F300 4 channel amp:) I plan to run it off of the factory head unit. I have seen a couple of posts on here and other places that show the wire colors from the factory HU. I have also seen a post stating that the 08 wire colors are not the same as previous years. Just wondering if this is true and if so, what are the wire colors?

Also wondering how everyone else is running the remote turn on lead???

Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Anybody out there got any ideas? The 07 Rangers are different. Crutchfield sent me the 07 wiring diagram and it doesn't match the 08.

why would you do that. Buy an aftermarket headunit so you can get a pre-amplified signal, otherwise you will be sending it a garbage signal.

New HU doesn't fit the budget right now.

I don't know wiring colors, but if you want to clean up the signal, I'd look into a cheap signal processor to run RCA's instead of line inputs. Basically it's a powered block that you can tune what frequencies pass through to the amp. Works well with a factory head unit.

If not, maybe try the local dealer to see if they have wiring diagrams and just use the line level inputs. It'll be better than factory, but not as good as pre-amp outputs on an aftermarket HU.

^ It's available at Walmart for cheap and will help clean up the sound a lot.

Thanks for the feedback. I figured out the wiring this past weekend. It sounds great even with the stock HU. Now I just need to get my sub installed.

Happy New Year!
